About Matt
Matt Johnston Spent the majority of his childhood and adolescence in Paducah Kentucky, having moved from Birmingham Alabama shortly after his first birthday. After being homeschooled through his high school years, Matt attended Samford University on the Presidential scholarship. In his sophomore year he would join the Art department, declaring a fine arts major with an emphasis in photography. During this time, he would participate in various group shows, start a students group for students involved in the arts, work as both gallery assistant for the school’s gallery and the shop tech for the on campus sculpture studio, as well as having a stint as the artistic director of “Sojourn”, a bi-annual on campus publication. After Receiving his bachelors, matt returned to his hometown of Paducah, where he is the administrative assistant for the Yeiser Art Center, and has recently co founded the Young Paducah Artists; a collective of local emerging artists focused on growing the artistic community in the Paducah area, and providing resources for artists in the beginnings of their careers.
